We are delighted to announce that our founding partner, Manuela Antonio, is launching her autobiography, “Em Portugal e Macau – Os Dois Lados de Uma Vida”, today in Lisbon. The presentation will take place at the MACAM – Museu de Arte Contemporânea Armando Martins.
The book interweaves Manuela’s personal memories with her professional journey, reflecting on more than half a century of transformation in Portugal, Macau and China. It traces her origins between Ajuda, Porto Brandão and Belém, her years at the Universidade de Coimbra during the academic crisis, and the start of her career at the Ministério das Finanças.
A law graduate of 1973, Manuela worked for eight years in the Portuguese public administration and taught at the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa. Her arrival in Macau in 1982 marked the second chapter of her life, where she became the first jurist at the Finance Services and, in 1986, founded Manuela António – Advogados e Notários.
Beyond the personal trajectory, the autobiography goes through the development of Macau in the last 2 decades of the last century, the governance of the then Portuguese-administered territory and the transfer of the administration to China, as well as the rapid transformation of China since the early 1980s.
Today, the firm holds a consolidated position in the Macau legal market, with particular recognition in corporate and financial law and being consistently recognised by Chambers, Legal 500, and IFLR1000, which also acknowledge Manuela individually.
We congratulate her on this milestone.
